Each week, 41,893,000 adults listen to Country Radio stations nationwide.
More radio stations continue to program Country Music than any other format. There are 2139 Country Radio
stations, followed by 1167 News/Talk and 1136 Adult Contemporary. (M Street Corp., January 2002)
During 2001, Country Music’s radio stations were rated No. 1 or No. 2 in 27 of America’s top 100 markets,
including Akron, Albany, Albuquerque, Baltimore, Buffalo, Denver, Ft. Myers/Naples, Indianapolis, Johnson
City/Kingsport/Bristol, Riverside/San Bernardino, Seattle/Tacoma, Spokane, Toledo, Tucson and Tulsa.

Airplay Monitors 2001 list of the Most-Played Artists, all formats, showed it was cool to be country. The chart
boasted 5 Country Music artists in the Top 10. Faith Hill (1), Tim McGraw (3), George Strait (6), Alan Jackson
(7), and Garth Brooks (9).
Country artists are used in national ads and corporate promotions by a growing list of companies including: Bud
Light, Coors Light, 10-10-22, Dr. Pepper, Chevy, Dunlop, Easy Spirit/Nine West, Ford Motor Co., GM Card, IBC Root
Beer, Jerzees, Jim Beam, Mack Trucks, Miller Lite, Slim Fast, Sparkle Paper Towels, Titleist, Tractor Supply Company
and Wrangler.
Tim McGraw solidified his status as one of Country Music’s top headliners. He had 2001’s top grossing Country
tour with $23.5 million, which drew more than 662,000 fans. The Brooks & Dunn “Neon Circus & Wild West
Show” tour ranked second among Country Music acts with $17.6 million.
